Who We Are

What is the Legal Loophole Project?

The Legal Loophole Project is a research project focused on disclosing and closing legal loopholes through legal research and legislative advocacy.

The project conducts research in legal linguistics, comparatively analyses legislative drafting principles adopted by offices of legislative counsel across jurisdictions, develops frameworks for countering legal loopholes, and advocates for the enactment of loophole-free laws.

The project grew out of an initiative to develop loophole-free laws under the Centre for Annihilation of Caste. It has since evolved into an independent research project housed within the Centre, with its own research agenda and approach while retaining its institutional affiliation with the Centre.
